What to Expect
Chimney Sweep-
- Once you make your appointment by calling our team, we will show up on time for the appointment. We have time slots that will surely fit into your schedule.
- Our technician will drape the area around the fireplace. Taking care to keep everything as it was.
- Burlington Fireplace‘s team will bring in all the tools needed to make a thorough cleaning of your firebox, chimney, and flue.
- We will first visualize the flue to see what we will need. Creosote buildup is most common with wood-burning fireplaces. This is a thick, ink-like residue. As smoke rises into a cooler chimney, the byproduct of burning wood builds up on your chimney walls. A professional chimney cleaning brush with bristles will be put up into the chimney, scraping off any creosote. Noting any obstruction, which will also be whisked away.
- The firebox will be cleaned as well.
- Any debris that is left in the firebox from the sweep will be cleaned up.
- Draping comes down, and you have a clean, efficient, and functioning fireplace.
Chimney Inspection-
- Like the prep from the sweep, we will take care to cover the surrounding areas.
- A visual inspection will be taken first. Checking both the inside and out. Checking to see if the chimney cap and flashing are intact. The damper will be assessed as well. The masonry will be inspected for cracks, leakage, and deterioration.
- Once a full inspection is complete, our technician will hand you a written assessment. This will give any suggestions as to what might need to be done. If there are any repairs that you might need.
There are three different levels of inspection.
- Basic Level 1 inspection- listed above.
- Level 2 and Level 3 - Depending on what is found in the basic level, they may need additional tools to visualize any damage or buildup of creosote.
