You Should Schedule A Chimney Inspection As Early As Possible

Why You Should Schedule Your Inspection Today

Don’t delay. Now is the time to schedule your fall chimney inspection. There are only so many days in a month, and winter is just around the corner. Each year, professional chimney companies are turning away customers because they are booked and have no further appointments available.

Professional chimney companies recommend an annual chimney sweep and inspection to keep your fireplace running efficiently. Protect your family from concerns of a chimney fire and enjoy a safe burning season. Here is what we look for.

Professional fireplace inspection in Spring Grove, IL.Obstruction:

Debris, small animals, twigs, and leaves can accumulate in your chimney. Without professional cleaning, it can combust while you start a fire and cause a fire within your chimney.

Creosote buildup:

When wood is burned in your fireplace, creosote, which is a flammable, black, tar-like substance, accumulates on the inside of the chimney flue. This accumulation can catch fire in your chimney.

Taking care of your chimney now will give you peace of mind for a successful burning season. The best time to schedule your cleaning is once the burning season ends. Putting your name on our books early will ensure that you have an appointment and are ready for the next burning season.

Why Should I Schedule Early?

  • If repairs are needed before the burning season, it is best to know that sooner rather than later. Avoid costly repairs by catching minor issues before they escalate. Once the snow starts to fall, it is more difficult for our technicians to get up on a ladder and fix what needs to be fixed.
  • This is our busy season. Most people don’t think of their fireplace until the weather gets cold. It may be too late if you wait too long.
  • Book early and you get to choose the day and time. Don’t delay and be stuck sitting around waiting for your appointment. You can schedule when you have the time.

What to Expect on an Inspection?

Exterior Inspection:

Check for cracks, structural integrity, and loose bricks.

Interior Inspection:

Starting with the firebox, we will check for cracks or crumbling mortar. The damper is also checked to ensure proper airflow.

Flashing and Roof Check:

The flashing is the metal where the chimney meets the roof. We look for leaks or sagging, which can cause water damage.

Flue and Liner:

This area will be checked for creosote buildup. The liner will also be checked for cracks.

Blockages:

We will look for any collection of animal nests and debris, twigs, and leaves.
